Next Stop: Brookhaven

From the Lincoln, Lawrence, Franklin Collection
Okay, I know I said I am on hiatus, but this one I could not resist.  The library caption reports that this is the first depot in town.  Not sure of the date of construction, but the railroad arrived circa 1858.  It is unclear to me whether Grierson's raiders burned down the depot during their march through the area, so if someone knows that answer, please feel free to post here or on my Facebook page.  This copy of a 1903 photo was made by W.C. Witbeck, a photographer who lived in Brookhaven for a time in the 1950s and is perhaps best known for his collection of photographs of iron horses.
